ABOUT THE TIME/LESS™ COLLECTION
The INVITATION
Denver, CO — USA — A WORLD TRADE CENTER DENVER FASHION GALA TO FEATURE GLOBAL DESIGNERS
In the spring 2012, Seven Global Designers representing different nationalities were invited to show interpretations of their respective Nations fashion at World Trade Center Denver’s “A World of Fashion” Gala event.
The Gala was part of World Trade Center Denver’s World Trade Week conference preceding World Trade day 2012 (May 17, 2012).
The conference theme, “A World Without Barriers: Leveraging Free Trade Agreements”, focused on America’s 21 markets with Free Trade Agreements and the opportunities they presented.
Held at Infinity Park, the Gala included a Fashion Show, Dinner and a Silent Auction with the proceeds benefiting the Young Americans Center for Financial Education’s International Center in Denver, which teaches Middle School Students about International Trade, Foreign Exchange, and Cross-Cultural Success.
The DESIGNERS
The Designers invited were Yumi Katsura (from Japan); Lois Samuels’, The Vessel (from Jamaica); both Pineda Covalin (from Mexico); Gabriella Martinez (also Mexico); Jacqueline Conoir, presented her eponymous label as well as her JAC Collections (represented Canada); Maggie Margot of Marie Margot Couture (from Colorado represented the USA); and Justice Kwesi Kwarteng (represented Ghana, West Africa).
Creating the TIME/LESS Collection in Response to the Invitation
Justice responded to this special invitation by designing an exclusive mini-collection that defied stereotypes and showcased his native Ghana’s rich history of textiles and fabrics:
“Ghana has an incredible relationship with fashion, textiles and style that transcend our iconic traditional Kente cloth. Every garment from the TIME/LESS™ Collection reflects the essence of Ghanaian Fashion and Style”— said Justice Kwesi Kwarteng on his creative vision and inspiration behind the development of The TIME/LESS™ Collection for World Trade Center Denver’s “A World of Fashion” gala.
